Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager, the Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring patient preparation, patient care and patient flow to allow smooth and efficient office operations. --Overall Responsibilities:--1. Prepares chart for physician: reviews last MD note for labs, radiology, etc. and makes sure result is available for review at follow-up visit.-2. Escort patients to rooms and prepare them for physical exam (BP, TPR, etc.) and to prepare patient for exam/procedure, instructs patient to disrobe and put on gown/cape when necessary. Any irregularities should be brought to the attention of the physician or clinical personnel.-3. Performs EKGs, accuchecks, blood draw, or other as instructed by physician.-4. Gives instructions to patients as instructed by physician.-5. Prepares examination room for patients and refreshes room and cleans instruments after each patient use.-6. Ensures smooth patient flow and notifies Practice Manager of bottlenecks or any other problems that arise.-7. Performs venipuncture as instructed by physician and prepares specimen for transfer to laboratory.-8. Assists with operation functions, as needed:-a. Greeting patients, obtaining insurance/demographic information, scheduling appointments, tests, surgery, etc. Answering phone calls and obtaining messages; creation, retrieval and filing of patient medical records.-9. Obtains pre-certifications for office visits, testing, surgeries, etc. as needed-10. Maintenance and inventory of all medical supplies in each exam room. Makes note of when additional supplies are needed.-11. Maintains all medical equipment and perform quality control testing of equipment and maintain various QA logs.-12. Works closely with management to maintain smooth operations of the practice.-13. Performs other duties as assigned by Practice Manager -14. Responsible for cleaning their work area, including the exam rooms and prepares rooms for next day.-
Additional Requirements
High School Diploma or GED, enrolled in a Nursing Program, current EMT certification, Medical Assistant Certified, Phlebotomist Certified, EKG tech or equivalent; must have a current BLS.
