The Stroke Coordinator is accountable for providing leadership, planning and direct coordination for stroke services consistent with the organizationï¿½s goals, mission, and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS: A valid Permanent Multi-State RN License from the state in which you reside is required.Should you hold a RN license from another Compact state, you are required to apply for and obtain a Multi-State RN License from the state in which you reside within 30 days.Bachelorï¿½s degree in Nursing, Masterï¿½s degree preferred, with five years or greater related specialty experience, program management, critical care, neuro nursing preferred.Experience in collection and analysis of data essential.
Minimum Licensure and Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Advance Critical Life Support (ACLS) is required within orientation period
National Institutes of Heath Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within 30 days
Advance Stroke Life Support (ASLA) certification within 60 days
Current and unrestricted South Carolina Nursing license
Completes a minimum of 15 contact hours of continuing education per year as required by the SC Board of Nursing, with 8 of those contact hours dedicated to the care of the patients with cerebrovascular disease as required by American Stroke Association
Minimum Experience/Additional Certification:
Above average clinical and organizational skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates effective critical thinking and problem resolution skills
Ability to motivate and lead a team
Ability to direct the work of professional and non-professional nursing and healthcare personnel
Ability to establish and maintain confidence and cooperation of patients
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, patients, families and physicians
8.Experience in the care of stroke and/or neurological patients
