The Observation Care Center is a fast paced, 19 bed, 23 hour outpatient center. Patients are primarily those with minimal co-morbidities, and specific problems needing short term care to determine if they would benefit from further treatment as a hospital inpatient or if they are able to be discharged from the hospital. The department is open 24/7 and is made up of RNs, PCAs and Unit Secretaries. The OCC care-team works closely with physicians to constantly evaluate the status of patients to make determinations about their care. The OCC is also home to the SWAT team. This group of high performers travels throughout the hospital assisting with admissions and discharges, rapid responses, various types of codes (STEMI, Stroke, Sepsis) and TMFHSs own Code Maroon.
