Role Purpose
The Director of Occupational Health Services and Workers’ Compensation Administration is accountable for the
strategic development, implementation, and oversight of occupational health programs for BJC HealthCare and the
oversight of its’ Self-insured Self-Administered Workers Compensation Program. The director will provide
strategic direction and oversee a team of system level clinical and administrative professionals responsible for, but
not limited to occupational health, workers compensation, occupational infection prevention, ergonomics and the
WellAware Fitness Center to support all BJC organization and entities and the medical management of BJC’s OCIP
Campus Renewal Project.
Responsibilities
- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
- Participates in the strategic and operational direction of BJC HealthCare as it relates to occupational health, ergonomics, occupational infection prevention and its’ workers compensation administration.
- Oversees the occupational health and ergonomics program of BJC Occupational Health Services and the medical management of BJC’s OCIP Campus Renewal Project.
- Oversees process and system analysis support, planning, and coordination of work-related injury prevention strategies, work-related injury management and risk reduction strategies for all employees of BJC HealthCare.
- Directs, coordinates, evaluates and partners with leaders in surveillance, prevention and control programs to improve worker safety and reduce risk to the employees, patients and organization.
- BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
