The RN position is located in the Learning and Organizational Development Program, John Cochran Division, VA St Louis Health Care System (VASTLHCS), St. Louis, Missouri. The duty station may be changed to one or multiple associated VAMC locations within the metropolitan St. Louis, MO area based on the needs of the medical center. The Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Facility Coordinator is a professional nurse who executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing orientation and training, conducting competency assessments, and assessing staff learning needs regarding all aspects of SPH (Unit Peer Leader Program, regulatory requirements, equipment, bariatrics, etc.). Additional responsibilities also include reviewing and applying current research/evidence to educational offerings, developing and utilizing evaluative systems to determine the effectiveness of education programming, engaging in construction projects impacting patient care, and participating in developing, interpreting, evaluating, and maintaining practice standards. This position may include other clinical or administrative assignments necessary to meet the mission of the Health Care System. This RN will be required to rotate shifts on a recurring basis, to include variations of the normal duty hours and days. Assumes essential personnel status during emergencies.
