The RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s) within the Cath Lab at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. Department supports both in and outpatient cases.
This is a day position, M-F, hours are typically 8:00-4:30pm. Call is required during the weekdays and weekends and must be able to arrive at Hospital in Edina, MN within 30 minutes of being called in. 1 weekend every 4-5 weeks. Includes a holiday rotation schedule. Benefit eligible.
The RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s) within Interventional Cardiology/Radiology. The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure and professional practice guidelines. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. The autonomous practitioner is accountable for their own practice, current knowledge, and competence; the RN has authority to control decisions affecting nursing care.
To be successful, the Heart Cath. Specialist RN must be able to:
Assess patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes
Develop an individualized nursing plan of care
Implements nursing interventions based on plan of care
Provide care to patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including: cardiac and radiologic procedures
Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate equipment
Assists with Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology procedures
Evaluates care and patients response to interventionas and expected outcomes
Uses communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes
1 year of critical care (experience with hemodynamic monitoring , advanced airways, vents, critical care drips, iv pressers, and ACLS related drugs ) or Cath Lab RN work experience.
Minnesota RN License
BLS for healthcare providers
ACLS (required upon hire or completed before end of orientation)
Must be able to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes of receiving a page.
BSN, or enrolled in a BSN completion program
2-3 years of ICU (experience with hemodynamic monitoring , advanced airways, vents, critical care drips, iv pressers, and ACLS related drugs ) or ER/ED RN work experience or Interventional Radiology RN
RN work experience in a Cath Lab or IR or procedural setting
