The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center (WPB VAMC) is recruiting for two (2) full time Registered Nurse Gastroenterology specialty in Nursing service West Palm Beach Florida. The Gastroenterology RN provides care for the Veterans in a Gastroenterology Suite. Serves patients requiring inpatient or outpatient procedures for diagnosis and treatment of Gastrointestinal or Hepatic problems. The Gastroenterology RN to perform the following: Administration of moderate sedation, performance of pre-, intra, and post-procedure patient assessments and care Coordination with technicians to understand all components of standard precautions, PPE, and procedure room set-up with respect to sterility, cleanliness, availability of functioning endoscopic equipment and supplies. Provides specific information to instruct and educate patient and families regarding Pre-Op teaching and discharge planning. Functions as a preceptor to new staff. Provides safe patient transport. As a Charge Nurse assume responsibility for procedure patient flow, and primary coordinator of all disciplines to ensure well coordinated patient care is provided. Responsible for patient assessment, reassessment, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care provided and capable of responding appropriately in emergency /code situations using ACLS skills. Requires fulfillment of a fair rotation to On-Call assignment. Maybe required to cross train to other Special Procedures areas.(for example, Interventional Radiology/MRI). Must be competent to monitor, record and communicate patient conditions to the healthcare team through utilization of the electronic medical record, Work Schedule: Day shift; On-call rotation Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
