The Licensed Practical Nurse, is a direct caregiver who has the knowledge and skills necessary for concentrated effort and self-direction in carrying out the most complex nursing care assignments and who completes duties and responsibilities, which involve performing nonstandard and specialized practical nursing activities requiring demonstrated skill sufficient to resolve nursing problems. The LPN applies the nursing process to client care, organizational process and/or systems, improving outcomes at the program or service level which support the health care team under limited supervision including but not limited to the following: Responsible for clinical program management and administration for several mandated OSHA, JCAHO, Safety Management, Infection Control and Medical Center programs. Plans and implements the yearly influenza campaign. Is a resource to employees, supervisors and providers for the Worker Compensation program/process. Works with provider who initiates treatment plans and limited duty assignments for work related injuries Advises employees on process of filing a worker compensation claim and refers to appropriate point of contact. Coordinates staff regarding HIV consent and treatment options. Facilitates care for employees who are in the Hepatitis vaccination and needle stick programs. Is a resource to employees and supervisors regarding ECOMP. Resource for urgent care and providers when dealing with work related injuries and the worker compensation process. Presents overview of Occupational Health at New Employee Orientation every other week. Work with employees with injury or illness to determine if they need to be seen in Urgent Care. Provide teaching involved with different dressings and medications. Conducting appropriate employee health education especially for chronic health conditions. Knowledge and ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems. The LPN works with the Employee Health MD to appropriately train/orient other staff. Ability to serve as a responsible member of the nursing team and interact in an appropriate manner with patients, family members, professional and other supportive personnel Knowledge and skill sufficient to prepare, administer, and appropriately document actions taken specific to commonly prescribed medications as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures.
