This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Clayton/ East Raleigh Specialty Clinics maintains the health and manages the care for patients with a variety of medical problems including hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, cancer, congestive heart failure and other chronic diseases. The Registered Nurse will function as an ambulatory care nurse in support of the physician or advanced practice provider within mental health. The clinic is designed to provide comprehensive primary/specialty care services, including gender specific care to male and female Veterans. The Registered Nurse provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling; provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being; and executing medical regimens. including administering medications and treatments prescribed by a licensed or otherwise legally authorized provider (North Carolina Board of Nursing). The nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community (ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses). The registered nurse, as a licensed professional, will be responsible and accountable for his/her practice. Duties will include, but not be limited to, oversight of nursing staff, patient intake, documentation, point of care testing and health screening. The RN will assess, triage, take histories, and document conditions and concerns for Veterans presenting to the clinic and via the telephone. In addition to assessment and triage, the RN will assist with chaperoning of exams and assisting with procedures. The RN is responsible for promoting an environment that supports caring and courteous service, safe patient care, and positive working relationships. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-hour tours between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (This tour is inclusive of occasional Saturday's) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
