Banner Health MD Anderson Cancer Center at North Colorado Medical Center (NCMC) in Greeley, Colorado is seeking a Medical Physicist for a full time position in radiation oncology. NCMC is a full partner in the MD Anderson Cancer Network, which provides our physicists the opportunity to work in partnership with the teams in Phoenix and Houston on developmental activities. MD Anderson has been ranked as the No. 1 hospital for cancer care in the nation in 2018-2019 by U.S. News and World Report???s ???Best Hospitals??? survey.

We are seeking a physicist holding a MS or Ph.D., ABR certified or eligible, with at least 2 years of clinical experience. Good verbal and written communication and computer skills are essential.

??The qualified physicist will join a dynamic team of two other physicists and three dosimetrists working in a regional radiation oncology system of three hospitals. Under the supervision of the Program Director of Medical Physics, the physicist will be located at a busy facility which offers special procedures such as SBRT and HDR. Typical numbers are 25 patients per day on the linac and 2 patients per week on the HDR unit. The department staff at NCMC includes three radiation oncologists and two physicists. The Radiation Oncology department is equipped with a Varian Truebeam with Vision RT. One GE CT simulator has 4D capability and another is used for the dedicated HDR suite. EBRT treatment planning is done in Raystation 10A HDR planning is done on Brachyvision. The OIS is Mosiaq v2.81. iQscripts, QCLs and assessments are used extensively to provide an optimal communication environment. We provide clinical training for dosimetrists enrolled in the MD Anderson Dosimetry Training Program. A medical physicist assistant helps out with many medical physics tasks.

The radiation oncology program at NCMC is accredited by ASTRO???s Accreditation Program for Excellence (APEx) and the Cancer Program is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a ???Community Comprehensive Cancer Program.??? NCMC???s cancer program works in a regional model of care in conjunction with McKee Medical Center in Loveland, CO and with Sterling Regional MedCenter, David Walsh Cancer Center in Sterling, CO. The cancer program is a comprehensive program embracing a broad spectrum of care and services, from prevention and early detection programs through an active cancer survivorship program. POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides physics services by following department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Verifies proper operation and safety of all machines and sources producing radiation in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.

2. Performs measurements or other evaluations as necessary to ensure accurate dose delivery for treatments. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.

3. Provides support and assistance in delivery of all radiation therapy treatments, including advanced specialized therapies. Assists in or performs computer treatment planning as needed. Assists in the evaluation and implementation of new therapies and protocols. Serves as a physics services resource for all staff.

4. Assists in staff continuing education on appropriate medical physics and radiation safety procedures as needed. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes.

5. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Ensures all radiation safety standards and regulatory requirements are met.

6. Participates in regular quality assurance reviews. Ensures proper documentation is recorded and maintained.

7. Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the Medical Physics practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.

8. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department by performing other duties as assigned. May hire, train, conduct performance reviews, and direct the workflow for the department staff.

9. Independently performs procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols to patients. Internal customers: All levels of radiation oncology and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Masters Degree or PH.D. in Medical Physics or other related discipline is required.

Current certification from the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics and licensure by the state of practice where required. Experience with procedures in the specific department required. BLS certification.

Must possess knowledge in medical physics including regulations governing the use of radiation in medicine, advanced computer skills, advanced treatment planning, and quality control procedures. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and solve problems. Employees working at Banner MD Anderson on the Banner University Medical Center Phoenix campus must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. This is a requirement of the Whole Family Counseling Program held at this specific facility.
